I set off early one morning, excited for a day of metal detecting with a group of fellow enthusiasts. The weather was typical for England - grey and wet, with the fields around us muddy from the recent rain. But as any metal detectorist knows, you have to be willing to get a little dirty to uncover hidden treasures.

As we trudged through the fields, the metal detectors were beeping with each discovery, I couldn't help but feel a sense of thrill knowing that there could be something amazing just beneath the surface. The hares darting about in the distance only added to the magic of the moment, their silhouettes against the gloomy sky making me feel like I was part of something ancient and mysterious.

There where many targets in the fields, buttons and old coins.  Lots of musket balls, so maybe a battle took place here!  One of the group found a Half Gold Guinea. A 1793 George 111 Love Token.

After a long day of digging and exploring, I made my way home.  Inspired by the day's adventure, I pulled out my watercolor supplies and began to paint.  Capturing the essence of a day filled with excitement and discovery.

As I painted, I felt a sense of peace wash over me, grateful for the opportunity to explore the world around me and uncover its hidden wonders. And as I put the finishing touches on my watercolor, I knew that I would always treasure the memories of that rainy day in the fields, surrounded by hares and history, and the joy of uncovering something special just beneath the surface.

And as I sat back to admire my finished painting, I realized that sometimes, it takes a bit of rain and a touch of adventure to truly inspire the artist within us.
