Well my husband set me a challenge this week! To paint The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. And what a challenge. Decided to put my own slant on it, so used the village, and Saint Peter’s Church of Belmont Lancashire in the foreground.
I changed the Cypress Tree, that is so prominent in Van Goghs starry Night, to the Belmont Bleach Works with its chimney standing prominently in the foreground (sadly the chimney no longer exist)
I only used the colours that Van Gogh used, rich blues, yellows, and white for the sky. Adding green to the landscape. And outlined in Black.
Painted in Acrylics on a canvas board.
Painted in 1889
My Husband Terry Foster also decided to paint The Starry Night , this is his take on , again using St Peter’s Church in Belmont as the main focus.
